Granted, everything you can do is at a fairly chill pace. You can engage or just ignore and do your thing. Things happen, such as villagers having their shifting routines, birthdays, seasonal events. You wake up every day and choose how to spend it. I also had one file where I did next to no farming but raised and bred animals as my main source of income. You can even turn a decent profit by mining the dungeons and smelting bars for sale, if you don't want/need them for other upgrades. On the other hand, I will fish until my finger is numb, and explore the heck out of the dungeons lol. You can do the farming thing until the sun sets, but I tend to set up sprinkler systems + some scarecrows and only worry about my crops when I need to harvest and re-plant. As for the parsnips thing, I'd play around with the different starting farm layouts, and see if other means of progression interest you.

It also seems to do well with people who also get into Animal Crossing. Story of Seasons, Rune Factory, My Time at Portia, etc. It's not a genre for everyone, so I guess I would ask if you've ever played anything similar. I know I'm kinda pulling a Necro here but just wanted to answer. (didn't thought of trying terraria earlier cause of the graphics, Stardew made me open my mind a bit) I tried terraria cause of Stardew Valley, and I didn't like it despite many players liking it It's ok to not like it, you've tried it for 20 hours, and it looks like it's not clicking for you Or you could forgo the resource side of things, and just get creative with your farm/field (if you're into that) The community is chill/great ( /r/StardewValley)Īlong with the community, are also guides if you want to min-max the game (if you're into that) It's pretty decent if you like management games (there's some level of optimization when gathering resources)

It's not graphically/cpu intensive (good for those with older phones) The characters and story are pretty charming I liked it cause I like Harvest Moon (a PS1 Farming Sim), I honestly thought I wouldn't like it cause of the pixel graphicsīut when I gave it a chance, I personally think it's better than Harvest Moon (at least the Ps1 version, thats the only one I played) I think it's a very specific genre (of farming sim) Have you played other games similar to it?
